Hi,
I found a hazard that I think can be traced back to the fleet AI logic. When I am traveling in a faaaaar distant system, FAR AWAY from adjacent ones, I can sometimes take over a enemy ship. Say, a Spacer vulture iii. I disable it, board it, wipe out the crew, then get in the pilot seat. I wanted to use this as a basis for another fleet ship, so I made it my home ship and registered it from the start menu.
*Dong!*
The sound and camera view of the docking collar to my previous home ship show it departing me and leaving me to pilot this busted tin can, all by itself (I did not initiate the docking seperation). Except... the busted tin can doesn't have the grav jump distance to get me out of the relatively close set of 3 systems. I'm stuck. I can't redock with my old ship, because it's being piloted by my fleet now (I did not assign anyone to it).
So, the bug seems to be that, normally (vanilla), if I found myself stuck in a captured ship in a far solar system without the grav drive power to get out of the system, I could go back to my original ship and dock with it. But, alas, I can't command my original ship to dock with me, and there aren't any starbases or places where I could swap out my home ship or buy a new grav drive.
Maybe I could go hunt for a better enemy ship with a better grav drive, but my new tin can is insufficient.
As for a feature suggestion to solve this: maybe hail our fleet ship to request a docking? That could not only get me back into a grav-jump capable ship, but also solve issues of quest updates to talk with a follower piloting another fleet ship.
Thank you!
