Captured Watchtower Ship Can't Travel

I'm having the same problem as reported by another user (BigBeardBaron). I've progressed far enough in the quest line that I'm "qualified" to pilot Watchtower ships, but when I capture a ship and try to fly it, I get the message "You cannot fast travel from this location". I can't Grav jump to any location, and I can't land on the closest planet to change home ships.

I'm on Xbox series X, and I'm on Ver. 1.0.3 of Watchtower

Thanks

In this universe, I got the message on a captured Battleship, but I'm assuming that's because you're using an "M" class platform for the battleship, and I don't have any "M" class mods (yet). On a previous universe, I got the message on a Destroyer, which I assume is a "C" class platform. I honestly haven't tried to fly the Corvette, because I didn't think they were worth the effort (sorry), but I'll try piloting all three ships in the next universe and report.

Thanks!

Hi there, is this affecting all Watchtower ships, or certain classes?
It's affecting all classes, but with different effects as follows:

Corvette - The Corvettes explode every time I undock from my home ship. Every. Single. Time! The captured Corvette will have a hull integrity >80 when I dock (captured using only EM weapons), but as soon as I undock from my home ship, they explode with a message about low hull integrity and RS repair. Seven different Corvettes, seven different systems, seven different explosions. :cautious:

Destroyer - Successfully capture, clear, and undock. Can fly around locally picking up cargo from other destroyed ships, but if I wan't to land on the planet or Grav jump anywhere, I get the message "You cannot fast travel from this location".

Battleship - Same results as the Destroyers

Cruiser - I can't sit in the Pilot Seat, and I get the message "Cannot pilot due to ship size". I assume you're using an "M" Class platform for this beast of a ship, and I don't have any "M" class mods.

I'm running Watchtower 1.0.3, on Xbox Series X with OS 10.0.26100.5362

Thank you.

Watchtower ships exploding after undocking from them is normal and intended behaviour under certain circumstances - those circumstances being if the player boarded the ship, did not claim it, and then left. So just to be certain we can rule out that the ships are not being claimed properly, the process to do so is as follows:

- Destroy at least two major arrays (these are the named ones e.g Alpha, Kappa, etc)
- Talk to Gren. You may need to return to him twice if you haven't yet had the conversation about salvaging ships, which would have unlocked after destroying the first major array.
- Sit in the pilot seat as you would to claim a vanilla ship. Cruisers and Drones are the only exceptions (Drones cannot be boarded at all, and Cruisers cannot be piloted due to their class size).

If you have already done these things and the bug is still occuring for you, can you please share your mod list with us? As if the ship is correctly owned by you this shouldn't be happening.

The same thing happens to me but I found if you make the captured ship your home ship, you can fly the ship as expected.

Yes, I've done that. 1) Destroy Hub Alpha, talk to Gren and get salvage rights. 2) Destroy Hub Kappa, talk to Gren and get piloting rights. 3) Capture and clear Corvette. 4) Sit in pilot seat to claim ownership. 5) Get options (X)Board (home ship), (Y)Undock, (B)Get up. Every time I select (Y) to undock, the ship blows up with me sitting in the Pilot seat, and I get the onscreen message about hull integrity.

I use the same process to capture the Destroyers and Battleships, and I don't explode, but I can't fully claim the ship either because I can't land anywhere.

My load order is:
Watchtower 1.0.3
Mclarence 1.0.6
Everbright 1.04
Cryomancers 1.02
Robin Locke 1.11
The Veil 1.10
Beyond the Veil 1.02
Tracker's Alliance Vulture 0.00
Starborn Guardian VII+ 1.00
Starborn Gravis Suit 1.00
Frogotten Frontiers POI 1.05

Good Morning!

A follow up to the current conversation: I used the method suggested by Toyhauler to change home ships while sitting in the Pilot seat of the captured Watchtower ship, and it works perfectly. The Corvettes don't explode, and I can land all three classes on the closest planet to change back to my default home ship. Woo Hoo!!
