Leave the fleet at Stardock?

Is there a way to keep the fleet at Stardock with their crews milling about while I go off on solo adventures. I absolutely love the function of having one place in game where all my ships and crew are located, but sometimes I just want to strike out on my own without having to unassign them all.

You could set them up to only show up during combat. Wouldn't necessarily keep you completely solo all the time, but then you get to use your skydrops and still travel solo, and you don't have to unassign anyone.

bennyclams has pointed out exactly what I was going to suggest - while we don't have a direct option like the one you are asking, we do have a gameplay option that limits ships to only appearing when the hostile encounter is a watchtower one. This means they will only appear when watchtower ships show up - allowing you to travel solo, deal with vanilla space encounters solo, etc.
