Two Questions - (1) Torin's Gear and (2) Capturing a WT Ship

(1) Torin's Gear - Using the "Talk>Lets Trade Gear" command, Torin's gear is Bounty Hunter with no specific weapon shown. I have progressed far enough I can upgrade his gear and weapon. Does Torin have any default gear like the Constellation members?

(2) Capturing WT Ships - After landing on Altair III (Stars Have Eyes/Listening Post), as occasionally occurs, a spaceship landed nearby. It was a WT Destroyer. Recognizing the response to my previous question, can a WT ship be boarded/captured in space or planet side?

Thanks

Hi there - Torin just has the Bounty Hunter suit as his 'default'. To capture/own a Watchtower ship, you need to unlock the piloting skill - to do this, you need to destroy at least two major arrays and then talk to Gren.

I did test Torin's apparel by removing his Frontier Attire which left only boxer shorts. Out of courtesy, did not remove his gear and apparel on a freezing, airless moon. 🫣

In my current game, my Piloting Skill is Level 4. For future reference, is there a lower Piloting Skill level that is also needed or is destroying two major arrays and talking to Gren sufficient?

Thanks again

This mechanic is unrelated to the vanilla piloting skill - rather it is story-based, by which progressing enough through Watchtower allows Gren to grant you the abilty to pilot Watchtower ships specificially.

And another related question, in theory, - because I have several mods to facilitate ship capture, I assume for a WT ship, I should shoot it down or can I board/capture, but not pilot?
When the second patch update goes live, you will be able to salvage Watchtower ships for parts even before you unlock the skill to pilot them. But until then yes, they don't have a whole lot of benefit being kept around until after this service unlocks.
