Hi there - we are aware of this issue and we have a fix going into the next patch, which hopefully won't take too long to pass through Bethesda's QA process.
In the mean time, you should be able to proceed with the quest by simply placing the relic in a container by itself (or with items of your choosing), and then waiting 24 hours for the quest to update.
