The Last Watch - It's Still

awesome.... (y)

Just went thru it on a different save (my second time). Man on extreme I sure do use a lot of ammo, like a lot. Only died twice this run. The first one was really funny, I was sneaking around on top of one of those garages that often have turrets... the Watchtower watchman was next to a piece of metal and as I turned and saw him, he saw me and like 0.8 seconds later I was a white glitter-bomb.

So both sections of this (really long) mission are really good and action packed. The twists and turns... and ammo, don't forget the ammo. The music, which I noticed more in the second half as we were going thru the station, really good.

Oh and I still despise those level 100 Starborn wannabe Watchtower Wardens... even with Sunless Space they are bullet sponges. Since I'm following the 5 "D's" of dodge ball (Dodge, Duck, Dip, Dive and Dodge) I'm fairly certain my Sentinel armor enhancement is useless 🤦‍♂️ Note to self: swap it with something else before this mission.

Spoiler Question about Torin:
Does anyone NOT talk him out of staying on the station?
Or does the game not permit that?

Well I just looted the safehouse so I think I'll rush the Unity on this save and get to a new Universe as quick as I can. UGH... next mission is w/Sam & Akila..... why didn't I pick 'skip" this run?

I bet someone out there did click the top option with Torin.
I bet someone out there clicked on the computer first instead of investigating the portal.
I bet loads of people run out of ammo (and have to use whatever they picked up)

This is definitely the best endgame mission I've had, beating out both the original game and Shattered Space 💯
Absolutely.
Like Sim Settlements 2 felt like the actual story and climax of Fallout 4.

Starfield is an expansive game with interesting lore. But it doesnt really have a story happening. Watchtower felt grand. It had a satisfying ending, and wrapped up neatly enough to stop there. But it also feels like the beginning of something epic. Like "A New Hope" ended with destroying the death star, but that was still only the beginning of the main conflict. And like ME1 ended with defeat of a Reaper, but it was also just the beginning of the Reaper War.

Watchtower feels like that; like we are now invested in the characters and the conflict, and things are just warming up. <3

I really hope this becomes a saga.

Because of the HDR issue I ended up doing both end choices. 👀

If anybody is out there playing and chooses the end option of not going into the portal then you need to go back and try it again with the portal. Stepping through the portal, seeing what's on the other side (take note of what you find on the ground), and then talking with Torin back on Stardock, it gives a totally different perspective on the ending. (And it kind of sets up the opening basis for any WT sequels.) 😳

I reloaded a save and chose the 1st option: Um, nope, don't like that at all.
I reloaded a save and chose the 2nd option: Um, no thank you.... unless, can we find Torin on Earth if we inadvertently activated the Astralgate? I know that's where the portal takes us, it was listed on my save file.

I agree 100% with @Kevin - if you skipped the portal, it is absolutely worth reloading.
