Salvaging non- Watchtower Ships

Am I supposed to be able to salvage non-watchtower ships such as Varuun, Spacers and Ecliptic?

YES. I have used the salvage option on nothing but non-watchtower ships. For me, all I have to do is sit in the seat then get back up and look at the seat and the "Salvage" choice is there.

Note: that was back on patch v1.0.1. I don't think I have had the chance to salvage in v1.0.2

I have salvaged quite a few non Watchtower ships as those seem to be the only ones that land where I can capture them. Boarding in space is a nonstarter as any fleet seems too fragile. I have to admit I really miss the large Watchtower fleets since I got the last array.

Yes - sitting in the seat to claim it first is required for non-Watchtower ships for technical reasons.
