Salvaging and getting ship module blueprints of owned ships?

I've finally unlocked the ability for gren to reverse-engineer ship modules when I salvage a ship. The question is, how do I salvage one of my own ships? I captured some good ships before that unlocked and just held them until I could. But when I go to the cockpit, there is no option to salvage it. Does it only work on ships that aren't registered?

You could try assigning someone else to your desired ship, and then dock with it and see if there is a salvage option when you approach the pilot seat.

That's an interesting point though and I'm going to forward this onto the devs (an easier method of salvaging your owned ships I mean).

I did try that. Docked with one of my ships in space, boarded it. The pilot wouldn't get out of his seat. But looking at the seat there was no salvage option either. And when clicking on the seat, "This object is busy."
