PSA: Starfield Creation Updates Are Broken (with Solution!)

We've suspected there was a problem with updating things in the Starfield Creations menu since McClarence was first patched, but are now 100% sure of it with the Watchtower patch.

Sometimes when updating a Creation, you will receive only some of the files required, creating version mismatches (for example, you may end up with the updated plugin file, but an old archive file). The most obvious sign of this problem occurring is some elements such as quest names, interaction prompts, or characters will be labeled as "LOOKUP FAILED".

(The issue may manifest in other ways, so if a developer tells you they were certain they fixed an issue, you could try this solution in general.)

If you run into this error, or if you'd like to avoid it in the future:

When updating your Creations in Starfield, you will want to delete them so that the Update button becomes Download, at which point you can download all of the new files at once without fear of overwrite failures.

We have reported this to Bethesda. If you run into this issue, you may want to report it as well, so they have more examples to pull from to try and address this.

i did this and I still have fear of overwrite failures because each times I exit the game, start it again and open the creation menu, my creation seems to have reverted to the previous version (or at least doesnt correctly register the version change).

this is incredibly annoying

I noticed that a while back with the official vulture creation too.

I have always felt like the creation club has always been in some ways unstable. For Skyrim if I DL a new creation and play right away, my game crashes unless I close the game entirely and relaunch it. Fallout 4 I hadn't notice anything from that. Starfield however I've been having issues with the creations for a long time. Any time I DL a new creation and try to play right away, almost always I end up with hostile creatures are invisible and they are the kind that are not suppose to be. So every time that happens I have to close the game and re validate the files every time I DL a new creation. Talk about irritating.
So ya doesn't surprise me that there are other issues going on with the creations.
Just wanted to post my thoughts on this.
Oh almost forgot also for Starfield Creations,, I have a bunch of creations that are always on the update slot. No matter how many times I try to update them, they still appear on there.

Every time I try and update a creation it says I lack permission to write to download folder which is fixed by restarting my pc but then it will always show as update available even when ity has updated.

I did this, and at first it didn't seem to work, but I restarted the Xbox and now the data is reading correctly.

Hello. Even this way I can't update the mod normally. It manifests itself like this: Every time I start the game, the mod says that it can be updated. When I delete and reload the mod, the compass showing gravity and temperature may or may not work, although you have already fixed it.

I think I figured out how to defeat the update. 1. Remove it from the mod list. 2. Exit the mod menu, then the game. 3. Go back into the game, download the mod again. After that, I restarted again. Everything worked. This procedure also helped with another mod that did not want to update.

Now I went into another game, then returned to starfield. The mod has the ability to update again. Something is broken at Betesba. Other mods also still have the ability to update.

When I should enter heimdall I fall into space..this happen before and after the update. I deleted the the old watchtower mod from my loadorder. Closed starfield and restarted my xbox series x and installed watchtower mod. And when I wanted to do something else than watchtower the game crashes. When I disabled watchtower all things works fine..do you have a guidance of what kind of mods conflicting??????
