Not a bug report, just curious: infinite hostiles on Watchtower ships?

Last week I took my first crack at trying to board a 'large' Watchtower ship. It *might* have been a cruiser, but I'm not 100% sure (I was new to the mod and was overwhelmed at the ship naming hierachry). It.... did not go well. I decided to go "Spartan" on them and fight them through a doorway chokepoint at the first cargo bay I docked to. 15 minutes, 2000 rounds of semi-auto 7.77mm ammo (burned through almost as quick as I could dump mags), and enough piled up bodies you could barely see over them later (I was getting serious Tolkien Silmurillion vibes here), my radar threat still showed a full cadre of enemies charging the chokepoint, popping up from all feeder hallways. This was not a slow burn of enemies but a frantic endless charge. I was running low on medkits, hearing my follower scream in agony from the battle, and I just made a hasty retreat.

Last night, I went run-and-gun into a cruiser iii (expecting infinitie spawns from un-cleared rooms) and cleared it.

Was my earlier experience just I chickening out at the almost very end, and enemies are finite? Or, do enemies spawn constantly from rooms not yet visited and cleared? I'm imposing old Nintendo 64 logic here, but that certainly is how it felt previously.

Oh wow sounds like quite a fight! There should not be infinite crew, no - there are A LOT of NPCs on such a big ship, however during testing I've ran KAH before and everyone did die (I'd expect them to keep spawning after the fact if there was some kind of infinite loop). Were the enemies constantly running to you, or were there sometimes lulls, with them just showing up as red dots on your compass? There is a bug under investigation currently where some NPCs are stuck in an inaccessible area on the Cruiser, so if red blips remain and you can't find them that could be happening.

Well, when I hastly beat a very brave retreat, there were still waves of visible (and quite trigger happy) enemies charging my position. The red dots that would appear on radar to replace their fallen brethren were eventually coming into view. Maybe I would be down to 4 or 5 dots during the fire fight, as I mop up the seemingly last, then I would watch 10 more dots appear. The only time allowance was enough to swap magazines, if that.

The bug I think you are referring to, for unaccessible enemies, I ran into last night (but saw it was already reported and you have tagged it). A number of enemies are trapped in a ship module (like a 2x2 cargo room) that has no accessible connections to the rest of the ship.

The subject of this post, why I wondered if the number of hostile NPCs was infinite, is unrelated to the access issue. I'm not saying a few of the red radar blips could have been trapped NPCs to make the waves look bigger, but I KNOW I was being charged at and faught direct line of sight enemies that just seemed to never end without pause or lulls (realistically perhaps 50-75 enemies) before I ran away.
