Is Torin supposed to use ammo?

Hello i have equipped torin with a laser rifle (orion) and ammo to use it. However unlike normal companions, he actually uses up the ammo i give him. Any clues on how to solve it? Or is this supposed to be expected behavior? I've been trying to look for options to toggle this off in the GECK but theres non that i know of.

Torin follows the same template as Elite Crew (rather than the core companions in Starfield). I'm not sure if they have special rules off the top of my head - do Elite followers use ammo? If so, then this is expected behaviour. If they do not, we will take a closer look.

Yeah I definitely noticed it too Torin does use ammo unlike the other companions. Kind of annoying if I have to give him ammo constantly. I usually give him the Praetor suit and the Super Shotgun from the 'At Hell's Gate' creation and he usually ends up burning through the ammo like toilet paper at a Hot Chili Festival.

We will definitely take a look - it may well be an oversight if Elite Crew also don't use ammo. I've opened a ticket to investigate regardless.

Yes Elite followers use ammo in my game i have a bunch of them following me around all the time prior to watchtower. thanks for looking into it! oh and also this weird interaction with Torin: my character puts away my weapon when talking to Torin. All other companions my weapon is still out.

If Elite Crew do use ammo, then Torin requiring ammo is working as intended in that case.

For your other issue regarding weapon sheathing, we will take a look and see if this happens with other Elite Crew followers.

OH WOW! thanks!! i am curious how come that was the case? I tried digging around as a beginner in the GECK and couldnt find an option to toggle ammo.

It's just a keyword added to the NPC record. TeammateDontUseAmmoKeyword [KYWD:0023F1CA]

We copied Gideon for Torin, who is lacking the necessary keyword. (So - Gideon is broken too in vanilla lol)

Lol, the bug went unnoticed for nearly 2 years because nobody uses Gideon for ground combat (he's highly valuable in space though, for the missile and ballistic buffs)
