First, great job, having fun. After given Gren the first computer core and making a choice for the new Skydrop (I chose turret), the screen blacks out then I thank him and he says Sorry, busy now. Come back later. So I am unable to add the turret Skydrop to my ship. I tried this several times and was fortunately able to get him past this but rapidly pressing the E (talk) key. I was unable to reproduce this correction though.

I am having this issue currently. I took the computer core to him and unlocked the next Skydrop but he is always busy. I talked to Harper, went to the next system over to get rid of the listening post, came back and had all the conversation with her I could...spoke to Torin and went through all the dialogue options (last one was the "what should I do now" option) but Gren is still always busy. I have noted that, in the quest log, "talk to Torin" is staying as unticked, even though I've exhausted all options. Not sure what else I am supposed to be doing? I'll continue playing and hope it unlocks, though currently I don't need the skydrops as it is fairly simple to clear outposts etc
Hi there - firstly, are you on the most up to date version of Watchtower? (1.0.2v4). Secondly, what does Torin say when you select "what should I do now"? Do you have any further dialogue options that appear once you select that?

Sorry for the delay in replying, got sidetracked by another game!
Version is fully up-to-date (I only started playing it after the latest patch)
He does his "Carry on doing what you are doing" dialogue...followed by "don't you have any responsibilities?" response to his saying he'd like to continue with you (or something to that effect). Nothing else after that as I already have him as crew now. I do wonder if it is simply that I need to progress further? The "Speak to Torin" bit is step 11 in the Stars Have Eyes quest if that helps

Do you have another companion with you?
As well as the "responsibilities" dialogue option, there should be one that says you'd like him to follow you, and one that says go your separate ways. Either of those should complete the quest. If you have a quest-locked companion with you, using the "separate ways" option would complete it.
Are these options not showing for you at all?

Ah, I didn't know Torin is a companion rather than just an NPC on your ship...he is already on my crew (captaining my second ship). But, if it's affected by mission-locked companions, then that would explain it as I currently have Andreja mission-locked. I'll try the other option when I next play and see what happens (hopefully he still stays on my crew!). Thank you for the help
Just want to say, the fix with the Green,Torin, and companions did the trick, worked great. Thank you for your help.
However, I still can't add crew to my new fleet ship. I was able to add skydrops but in the fleet controler I don't have the option to add crew or a pilot... Ideas??

Went back to Torin and use the go your separate ways option and that then completed the quest. The downside is that Torin is no longer on my crew (he was captain of my second ship) but, presumably, I can pick him up again when I'm not mission locked with a companion (still locked to Andreja as I can't seem to get to where we need to go as I have an OCD thing about scanning every single moon and planet in every system I visit lol)
Declining him as a follower shouldn't dismiss him as crew, unless he was instructed to "return to Stardock", or manually removed from his ship via the fleet terminal or vanilla crew menu. He should be able to be reassigned using either of those two methods though.

Sorry, forgot to come back.
It was strange...he was no longer captain of my 2nd ship but was listed as part of my crew but unassigned. Tried to reassign him but couldn't (tried to select him as captain for the 2nd ship but he wasn't in the list)....however, I periodically checked and finally he was able to be assigned and could be made captain again, so all is well.
