Do the Legendary Effects Benefit Companions?

Do the legendary effects provide much benefit on the suit companions wear? I ask because I’ve never seen a companion disabled from environmental effects so does the suit even matter much. Even if it doesn’t I’ll still probably provide fully upgraded suits for the crew on my home ship for role playing reasons but it would be nice to know.

The majority of effects should benefit companions/other NPCs who have the item equipped. There may be a handful that are player-specific (not sure off the top of my head what those would be but likely environmental-related ones as you noted).
