Can't Salvage

Torberg

New member
A forum search for "Salvage" doesn't turn up any threads on this, so apologies if it's addressed elsewhere.

I don't seem to be able to salvage ships I board. When I go up to the pilot's seat, I see both the Sit and Salvage options. However, if I try the Salvage option I get a message of "You must own this ship to salvage it." If I take possession of the ship, the Salvage option disappears.

Anyone else experience this?

This is a high-level late game character. Enough unity jumps that all Starborn powers are at level 10. Most faction questlines are complete in this universe, though I haven't done Ryujin yet in this universe. Many side quests complete. Since all the powers are maxxed this is meant to be my "Do everything and build/decorate stuff savefile" as they're not going to Unity jump and lose everything. Most of this was done in this universe before starting Watchtower. Just putting this out there in case save file complexity could be a factor.

I'm running a very simple load order (all are Creations; no off-site mods):
  • Base Game (NB: I haven't yet purchased Shattered Space)
  • Deimog
  • Starborn Gravis Suit
  • At Hell's Gate
  • Observatory
  • The Perfect Recipe
  • McClarence Outfitters
  • Watchtower

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

Hi there - to salvage a ship, you need to sit down (to claim it), then get up, and the salvage option should be there on the seat. Does this occur for you, or does the salvage option still fail to appear when you have gotten up?

Solution
At least I thought I had. Also, I just reloaded a save from right before my last attempt and now it's working. Which is odd; this hadn't been my first time trying (and failing) to salvage. I didn't even have to sit down first this time; I just killed the Spacers, walked up to the pilot's seat, and hit Salvage.

Going to try saving before I try again and - if it doesn't work - seeing if reloading will let it work.
