Questions about "Fleet System"

Hi there,
I have a few important questions regarding the whole fleet system in the Watchtower mod.

What exactly happens when one of the fleet ships takes damage?
Can fleet ships actually be destroyed, or do they jump away automatically before they're about to explode?

I’ve noticed something odd recently:
Some of my fleet ships seem to jump away even when they're not in combat.
Even though I set them to “follow closely” in the terminal, they still end up far away from me and don't really stick with my ship. Is this normal behavior?

Is there any way to adjust or configure this behavior further - either through the terminal, settings, or maybe console commands?

Would love to understand this better—thank you in advance for any insights or tips!

Typically, damaged ships get 'downed' until their health regenerates, similar to how companions behave. However there is an unfortunate engine bug in Starfield that can cause ships to die - more information on that here.

There is a bug in the current patch where fleet ships do not follow the player's ships correctly, however I can confirm we have a fix for this in our upcoming second patch update, which has been submitted and is awaiting Bethesda's approval.
