Only Core should be Contraband not Components

Considering how often you get Components for ship battles constantly having to stow it away gets really tiresome - also lore wise it makes no sense. Watchtower is a secretive organization so they wouldn't even know what these components even are if they saw them.

Instead I make a fair compromise only the Memory Core should be considered Contraband - as you need to physically attack a base to get it, meaning you will end up with far less of them anyway also you are more likely going to return back to starbase after attacking a base - so two birds one stone.

Agreed. Components getting shoved at you every 5 feet (Because of how frequent you deal with WatchTower) and then to have their most frequent drop be contraband is just awful.

They're contraband because Watchtower has infiltrated the government of both major factions, and has flagged their proprietary tech so that anyone that has it on them has it seized.

That's pretty clearly spelled out.

Also if it bugs you so much, don't pick the stuff up.

Perhaps a container that would hold the goodies that was immune to scans or perhaps if you were with the UC or a Sheriff you would be exempt as you were carrying confiscated goods?

You ever heard of the Streisand effect?

If someone high up said "x" is contraband and people started checking it out more - then everyone would be more aware of watchtower not less.

That means the best way for watchtower to hide would be not making it contraband. So government officials not part of watchtower ignore it completely.

Ignore tech more advanced than anything else in the Settled Systems, some of which is in direct violation of the peace treaty between Freestar and the United Colonies? Thats much less believable than the contraband flag keeping these things under the radar, friend.

We could go back and forth on this all day, really.

Shielded cargo bays are available for purchase from the ship services contact at the Red Mile (on Porrima III) or from Jasmine (if you're working with the Crimson Fleet). Jasmine also sells scan jammers to further reduce chance of contraband detection.

As for getting a "but I'm law enforcement and I'm just carrying these things I confiscated" exemption, I wouldn't expect the team to add that in as it would be a vanilla edit of the base game contraband scan mechanic and they — as a general rule — avoid vanilla edits.
