How necessary are the Race Mod Compatibility Patches?

What conflicts do they resolve? Are they just minor things or are they actually important? I ask because I play on Xbox and those patches aren't on Xbox.

Good to know. Although I will mention I had Imperious and Not so Sensible Races installed when I first tested the instruments and they seemed to work fine. I'm guessing that it fixes a bug that only happens sometimes?

It isn't actually a bug - in order for playable instruments to be possible, we utilize race swapping. Bard checks for vanilla race profiles and uses a custom version which then gets swapped back to the "normal" race version once the instrument is unequipped. This means in order for it to recognize and work with custom races, a patch must be made. Presumably the mods you mention don't actually change the race record of the character, just the visual appearance? Though, that is just a hunch.

Imperious doesn't change the appearances, it changes the abilities of the races, but I had Not So Sensible Races loaded under it, which has built-in compatibility with Imperious, it changes the Race abilities too but it let's Imperious overwrite it. The reason I have it is to expand the cosmetic options for the races. If I were to guess what happened is whatever NSSR did it might've accidentally made Imperious more compatible with BCE. Definitely needs more testing, but it's interesting.
