Confirmed: Loss of Fleet vessel

After a particularly nasty space battle, I ran across the debris of my Starborn Guardian. It was destroyed. Further, the pilot, Andromeda Kepler, was KIA and disappeared from the game (I later found out). Then, I noticed that the Fleet Management terminal was still showing I had four active fleet ships, when in fact I was down to three. I can't replace that ship without spending another computer core, and my ship number, I presume, will always be off by one. Has any of this been reported previously?

Yikes! that def sounds bad.... pretty sure they'll want either your save or mod list or both. Did you save and reload to double check if your Guardian ship was still gone? I thought the mod is supposed to prevent fleet ships from getting destroyed like how you can't destroy the ship used for a Freestar "rescue" mission.

So wait, you can't "unassign" Andromeda from that ship using the terminal? Is she still listed on your "Crew" page?

Ugh... to loose Andromeda :cry: pretty sure she's in the running for sweetest NPC second only to Grandma... I mean if it was Barrett or Sam, no biggie (j/k)
 
Loss of fleet ships is on the Known Issue list but will require a fix from Bethesda. The loss of pilot seems new, though. I recall in my first playthrough of WT my Starborn Guardian also got destroyed/lost. I didn't lose the pilot, but it was Torin so that may have been a factor.

Destroyed Fleet Ships

While your fleet ships are flagged as essential, there appears to be an engine bug that makes the feature unreliable, so in rare cases you may find one of your fleet ships destroyed. It's so rare, that we have never internally been able to replicate it.

If this occurs, the crew of that ship will be unassigned and returned to wherever their package location takes them. For example, Constellation folks would head back to the Lodge. Named NPCs you recruited would go to the place they started or where they would otherwise be when not assigned to an outpost or ship - for example, Hadrian would go to the base on Mars. Generic unnamed NPCs would be fully dismissed and would inevitably despawn.

This issue will require a fix to the base game from Bethesda.

It's gone. Oddly, it's ghost remained *until* I reloaded. Then it disappeared from lists.

Andromeda disappeared from rosters immediately. I went to the Broken Spear to see if she reset (nope), then used the console to summon her, but she was broken. Honestly, I cared more about losing her than the Guardian. There aren't many pilots in the game and she's nice to have around.

No way of locating a "before" save?

I was watching Kineer's stream of Watchtower and he was using a Guardian for his fleet... ugh. I recall the first time seeing and flying one I thought "oh man, this is really cool" <- that wore off as fast a being chastised by Sarah about picking up loot.

Regardless of my mood or loaded mods, the mod to sell both the Frontier and Guardian ships is always included and it's awesome. Of course now w/Watchtower, I retrofit the Frontier and make if look just like a CF Phantom. Pretty sure I got it from Nexusmods. I don't think BGS would approve something like that 🤷‍♂️

Again, sorry, that is really sucky :(

Unfortunately, the "ghost" tricked me and I progressed too far to make a reload practicable. Calling it a lesson learned. I'll see her in the next Universe.
 
Hi there - unfortunately as noted above, the destroyed ships issue is an engine bug we are seeking assistance with. However, it is concerning that you lost Andromeda. Could you please provide a save file and your modlist? I see that you don't have a 'before' save to rollback to, but one with the bug in progress (before you consoled her in) may still give us helpful information.
