3 Materials needed

I've landed on the planet and I'm supposed to find 3 materials (intact xenomorphic epidermises) but can't seem to find any. I'd like a hint to what I'm looking for. Is this animal, vegetable or mineral or is it something else and is it found on the surface or in a cave. I think the text log needs more information. Also, in the quest text, you should note to look for the note in your inventory.

Hi there - there should be quest markers on the targets. Three random aliens (apex predator type) on the location listed will have this material, which you can take from their inventory once killed.

In my case, it sent me to Akila, and in the more arctic area, I found three marked Ashta. They were all pretty far from the landing site in three different directions, but that gave me an excuse to fire up the REV-8.
